10 Tips for Saving Money at Disney World | Sweet Home Vacation

No matter which Disney park you decide to visit, there are always ways to save money. We have gathered some budget friendly tips that you can use for your next visit.

1. Plan your trip ahead of time

Everyone who has visited Disney World before will probably tell you to plan ahead, which is why we have to put this tip at the top of our list. Just like when you save money when you make a purchase list before going grocery shopping, you can do the same by planning your Disney World trip with anticipation. Knowing exactly what you want and what you’re going to do will help you avoid making unnecessary purchases.

2. Travel in a less crowded season

Let’s face it: Disney, the happiest place in the world, is also the busiest. There isn’t a “less crowded season”, but there are certain months and specific weeks where the number of people tends to be a bit less (for example, during the school season). P.S. During low seasons, you can find discounts on certain lodgings and flights as well!

3. Save money on souvenirs

Okay, Disney’s souvenirs are simply magical, but on the other hand, they’re rather overpriced (just like pretty much everything else in the parks). To avoid spending too much on a souvenir, you can choose to buy souvenirs outside the parks. You can find some good souvenirs that is just as amazing as Disney’s (and at friendlier price).

4. Use Disney’s free transportation system

If you don’t own a car, you don’t need to worry about renting one when you’re at Disney World. There are several kinds of transportations methods, and they’re all FOR FREE! From the basic ones (buses) to an amazing ride in monorail or a magical gondola, you won’t have to worry about walking too much around the parks with Disney’s Transportation System. They’re all connected to the parks, and you can find more information about them in our Disney World Transportation Guide and Tips. Disney’s transportation system can be used by everyone regardless of whether or not they are guests of the Disney hotels.

5. Bring your food

Disney World allows outside food inside the parks, so you can bring some snacks or pack your meal before going.  You will be able to save both time and money by bring your own food.  As an extra tip, you can choose to stay at a vacation rental to cook your food. Most hotels (either on-site or off-site) don’t have a kitchen, meanwhile renting a vacation rental will give you all the amenities you would have at home.

6. Bring your water

Bring some refillable water bottles. Tip for beating the Orlando heat: leave your water bottle in the fridge or freezer overnight so they can be refreshingly cold during your Disney World trip.

7. Choose to have dinner outside Disney

We already told you to bring some snacks, but another thing you should know is that dinner is more expensive than any other meal at restaurants in Disney World. If you want to have dinner at a nice restaurant without spending too much money, it’s better to choose to eat at an off-site restaurant of your choice.
